Pregnancy Prevention Resource Guide Available For Hartford Teens

July 15, 1999... Breaking the Cycle, Hartford’s strategic plan for teen pregnancy prevention, and Planned Parenthood of Connecticut have collaborated to produce a resource guide for Hartford teens to help them make responsible choices when it comes to sexual activity and pregnancy prevention.

The free brochure includes information on decision-making, pregnancy prevention including abstinence and birth control options, information about sexually-transmitted diseases and a list of Hartford-area resources where teens can go for services or counseling. The brochure is available in English or Spanish.

"We examined a variety of materials available to Hartford teens and felt there was a real need to develop a publication that puts a full spectrum of information into a single source," said Laura Stone, public awareness coordinator for Breaking the Cycle. "A teen with a question or problem often doesn’t know where to begin to look for help or answers," she added. "This publication should help eliminate some of that confusion."

The Resource Guide for Hartford Teens will be distributed at community and health organizations throughout the city. Copies are also available by contacting Breaking the Cycle at (860) 236-4872 or Planned Parenthood of Connecticut at (860) 728-0203.
