Progress Report on that day.

As soon as the final report is available it will be posted here. Keep checking back.

I am pleased to say the forum was a success, not just in the numbers.

Goal 1: To recruit at least 75pp to attend the forum.
Results: Over 130 people registered and just over 100 people showed up!! 50 of them were youth from around the city.

Goal 2: To engage the community to support the activities of the grant
Results: 94% of people are likely to engage in activities to support the grant

Goal 3: To gain support for the 4 community mobilization activities ( adult survey, forums, town hall meetings and study circles)
Results: 77% likely to participate in activities; 85% agreed to be study circle participants; 60% agreed to be study circle facilitators.

We showed a movie from Scenarios USA called "Choices We Make". You can preview the video HERE on the Scenarios website. We have a 3 question survey for the youth after they watched the movie. Click here to read their comments.

The feedback from people that we spoke with at the forum and after was very positive. Many of you were excited to see the youth and mentioned that you enjoyed the adult-youth conversation that happened at the end of the day. Unfortunately for us the surveys didn't ask as many "touchy feely" questions that we would have liked. But we have sent out a satisfaction survey and will share those comments with you when they are collected.

Notes of concern
: Two topics which seemed to really concern those who were present:
1)How do we help young people who have mental illness and what are we doing to address trauma? Young people are suffering and confused and there are things they need to know or need to be addressed before you talk about contraception.
2)Where is the Latino community? Proper outreach was not extended to engage them.

Equally as important are the questions we encountered about compensation for parents when we are implementing the adult surveys. Also how we will accommodate parents who will find it difficult to take a 7 page double sided survey... maybe 30 questions.

We have heard you and we are looking at ways to establish partnerships with other agencies in the community who can help us meet the needs of the community that are outside the scope of this grant.

Dates for the first wave of community activities is coming soon!
